The Office of Zoning and Codes deals with the following topics:
The Planning Commission meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:00pm in the Loyalsock Township meeting room.
The Zoning/Hearing Board meets as needed.
Most Common Township Code Violations:
Grass may be no more than 10 inches high.
Snow Removal from Sidewalks
Sidewalks must be clear of all snow 24 hours after a snow storm ends.
Only one (1) unlicensed or uninspected vehicle is permitted on a property at one time, provided it is not in a state of disassembly or disrepair.
No unliscensed, uninspected or damaged vehicle may be parked on the street.
Other Useful Information:
It is essential that the proposed use of the property conform to zoning for that
site. Before signing a lease, check the zoning.
Loyalsock Township's Planning Commission reviews all subdivisions and some
residential sites and recommends action to the Board of Supervisors.
Grading, parking, set back, landscaping and drainage requirements are
subject to review.
Certification that use of site meets all zoning requirements.
Depending on the zoning and use of the land, a conditional use hearing may be
required for some specific uses which require a review by the Township Planning
Commission, County Planning Staff, Township Engineer and a public hearing
before the Board of Supervisors.
Home base occupations are allowed in certain districts by permit. Sometimes
this accessory use may be a conditional use and not permitted by right.
Most signs require a zoning permit. This includes wall signs, pole signs,
political signs and temporary signs.
Driveway permits are required by the Township to create new driveway
openings on Township roads, and also paving of exisiting stone or dirt
driveways. Driveways on State roads require approval from PennDOT.
Plans for subdivision or land development must be reviewed by the Township
Planning Commission and County staff.
